In 2022, food sources that are both sustainable and nutrient-rich are kelp, seaweed, seagrass, and dulce. They are added in salads and snacks, as condiments, and in cube form for smoothies, sauces, soups, and dressings.
3. Plant-based food:
In 2022, convenience foods made from plants and nonalcoholic spirits are only two examples of how food is improving our health. The market for packaged plant-based foods is more diverse than ever, and customers are thrilled about this. According to 2021 research from the International Food Information Council, 65% of people claim to have consumed plant-based meat substitutes in the previous year. “Plant-forward products will continue to be on trend — not only for their known health benefits but also because of their relationship with sustainability,” says Keri Gans, RDN, a nutritionist in New York City and author of The Small Change Diet.
4. Alcohol-free options:
Spirits without alcohol are one of the top emerging trends according to the Whole Foods Market 2022 trend analysis. You can find everything available from beautiful sparkling water that can be used to make a mocktail to alcohol-free spirits, wine, and beer. It gets even better because of the calorie difference.
