WWE: Paige Officially Bids Farewell

New Delhi: Paige (Saraya-Jade Bevis) officially penned goodbye to her tenure in WWE. She took the time to thank a lot of individuals who had helped her along the way. Paige revealed that her contract with WWE expires in June 2022 rather than in 2023 as originally thought.

Saraya is a two-time WWE Divas Champion and was the first NXT Women’s Champion. The Anti-Diva is the only person to have held both titles concurrently and also was the longest reigning NXT Women’s Champion. In Jade’s debut match on the main roster, the British won the Divas title, becoming the youngest winner in history at the age of 21.

Paige retired from wrestling on April 9, 2018, at Monday Night Raw due to neck injuries. The next night on SmackDown Live Shane McMahon, the son of WWE Chairman and CEO, announced Paige as the new SmackDown General Manager on April 10, 2018.

“A lot of people still considered the women’s match on every show to be the ‘pee break.’ And I’ll always feel such a kinship with the women of my era, because we worked so damn hard to prove ourselves. To prove that we couldn’t just wrestle — we could wrestle our a**es off,” wrote Paige about the state of WWE on her arrival.

Saraya added, “Everyone seems to have a different idea on where and when our Women’s Revolution started, but to me the where and when don’t matter. What matters is that it happened, and that women’s wrestling is in good hands with the talent on this roster. I’m incredibly honoured to have gotten to be a part of something so special, and can’t wait to see what the future brings.”

Paige tweeted, “That’s a wrap @WWE see ya again some time! Thanks everyone for the support before, during and now after! Let’s see what the future holds! And thanks @PlayersTribune for this awesome goodbye letter,” on her official Twitter handle.
