Beijing: China is under increasing pressure to investigate the origins of the coronavirus pandemic. Even scientists are demanding more clarity to get to the roots of the global coronavirus pandemic.
China’s concern has increased since US President Joe Biden sought an investigation report from the Intelligence Department within 90 days regarding the origin of the Covid-19 pandemic. Regarding this, the WHO has also said that it can start a re-investigation into the origin of the coronavirus pandemic.
According to a New York Times Post report, Andrew Bolt, host of Sky News Australia, spoke to Professor Nikolai Petrovsky, director of endocrinology at Flinders Medical Center on Wednesday, who said that the world’s scientific community had been betrayed by China.
As reported by the New York Times, Professor Petrovsky told them that although some Chinese scientists have suggested that COVID-19 originated from an animal called pangolin, it is an unlikely scenario.
“Everyone is trying to point fingers at the pangolins, but I think most virologists now accept that it is unlikely that the virus came from pangolins. There is a similarity between the spike protein in pangolin and COVID-19, and in itself can be considered highly suspicious,” he said.
The coronavirus pandemic was first confirmed in Wuhan, China. Since then, there was a worldwide view that the coronavirus was developed in a laboratory in Wuhan, China and was leaked accidentally. The then US President Donald Trump had also directly blamed China for the Covid-19 pandemic.
