World Tuberculosis Day 2022: Every year, the 24th day of April is observed as World Tuberculosis Day to raise awareness about the disease which can affect the health of the lungs.

History

In year 1882, Dr Robert Koch announced the discovery of the bacteria that causes Tuberculosis. The day also highlights the social and economic consequences of tuberculosis.

Theme

The theme of 2022 World Tuberculosis Day is “invest to End TB. Save Lives.” This years theme focuses on the need for investments to end the disease and save lives. It also ensures prevention and care of the disease to achieve Universal Health Coverage by WHO.

Symptoms

1. Cough that lasts for more than 3 weeks is one of the common symptom of tuberculosis.

2. Formation of phlegm along with blood during coughing.

3. Weight loss, fever, chills are some of the symptoms.

4. Chest pain and sweats are also the symptoms of the disease.

Treatment

One can treat the disease when detected early. The treatment may include the medications for more than a year.
