West Bengal finding more on Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose as India's first PM before adding to school syllabus

Kolkata: Was Subhash Chandra Bose acting as India’s first Prime Minister when in exile? This is what the West Bengal government is trying to find out now. Trinamool Congress General Secretary Kunal Ghosh has thanked the state education minister Bratya Basu for taking the initiative to tell the syllabus committee to look into the matter of finding out more about Netaji as the first PM of the country.

“Netaji is the first Prime Minister of the country. As a first step in this recognition, he directed the syllabus committee to scrutinize the issues related to his (Netaji’s) government and cabinet for inclusion in the new generation curriculum in detail,” Ghosh tweeted in Bengali.

The syllabus committee in West Bengal have been asked to scrutinize all the related matter concerning to Bose’s government, his cabinet among others which would explain how he was running the government while in exile. After finalising on all the details, the committee will incorporate all of them in the school syllabus.

Speaking to media persons recently, West Bengal education minister had said, “Netaji was running government in exile and Netaji was the first Prime Minister of India. The education department is working on formulating curriculum on this and include in school in school education.”

The new details about Netaji would surely enable children to learn more about his life. There are already a host of chapters on him in school textbooks.
