West Bengal Election 2021: 79 candidates with criminal cases in 5th phase

Kolkata: Of the 308 candidates in the fifth phase of the West Bengal Election 2021, 79 have criminal cases against them.

Of these, 65 have very serious criminal cases against them. These include 28 candidates from BJP, 18 from Trinamool Congress (TMC), 10 from CPI (M) and two from Congress. There are a total of 319 candidates in the fifth phase. 

The fifth phase has 65 crorepati candidates, including 23 from Trinamool Congress (TMC), 18 from BJP five from Congress and three from CPI (M). The average assets of the candidates of the fifth phase is Rs 81.76 lakh.

Ritzu Ghoshal of Congress is the richest candidate in fifth phase

Ritzu Ghoshal, the Congress candidate from Shantipur seat in Nadia district, is the richest candidate in the fifth phase of the West Bengal Election 2021.  

According to the affidavit, his total assets are Rs 19,47,05,304. On the other hand, independents of NG Sherpa from Darjeeling seat and JDU candidate Bhushan Kumar Soni from Siliguri seat have zero assets.

125 candidates are 12th pass and below

In the fifth phase, 125 candidates have declared their educational qualification as being between classes fifth to twelfth while 182 candidates have declared themselves as having completed graduation and above.

112 candidates between 25 and 40 years of age

112 candidates are between 25 and 40 years of age while 156 candidates have stated their age between 41 and 60. At the same time, the age of 50 candidates is between 61 and 80.
