Her story makes everyone emotional, even Bharti Singh gets teary-eyed. The video shows judge Madhuri Dixit walking up to the veteran actress to console her. Further, Madhuri can be seen handing over a cheque of Rs 5 lakh to Shagufta Ali on behalf of the whole team of Dance Deewane.
In a new interview, the veteran actress said that she is unable to take care of her medical bills. Speaking to an entertainment portal, Shagufta Ali revealed that she is a cancer survivor and she is also suffering from diabetes. She said, “I have been ill for the last 20 years but at that time I was young and I could handle it. I had cancer in the third advanced stage and I became a survivor.” She further added, “From the last four years, life has become too harsh on me. I got detected with diabetes 6 years back and since then I have been facing a lot of health issues.”
Talking about her financial crunch, she said, “I have sold my car, jewellery and I have been travelling in auto rickshaws if I am going out to the doctor. It’s been very hurtful to me because I have been a self-made person. I had no support when I came to this industry and whatever work I have done, I got on merit. I need immediate financial help and also work to survive. I was really confused, honestly, if I should come out and ask for help. But I am in need as I have nothing left to sell now.”
Shagufta has appeared in various television shows like Bepannaah, Saath Nibhaana Saathiya and Sasural Simar Ka. She has also appeared in various films and was last seen in ‘Laila Majnu’ (2018). The actress first catapulted to fame for starring in Neena Gupta’s 1998-99 television show ‘Saans’. At that time Shagufta was also diagnosed with breast cancer and had also undergone various rounds of chemotherapy.
