Jabalpur: In Madhya Pradesh, seven labourers of the nine have been rescued who got trapped after an under-construction tunnel of the Bargi underground canal project caved in at Sleemanabad in Katni district.
The State Disaster Emergency Response Force (SDERF) team along with local officials are trying to safely rescue the remaining two labourers.
The incident took place late on Saturday evening. Madhya Pradesh Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Rajesh Rajora is constantly monitoring the rescue operation from the state secretariat.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan took cognizance of the incident. In a telephonic conversation with Kanti collector, he has sought information about the information from Katni collector Priyank Mishra.
The Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister has also instructed the authorities for proper treatment of those injured in the incident.
Taking to Twitter, Shivraj Singh Chouhan said he is constantly in touch with the district administration and is praying for the well being of everyone trapped in the tunnel.
The rescue team is on constant contact with the trapped labourers and are trying to safely bring them out of the debris.
