New Delhi: Volvo Car India has launched its electric SUV ‘XC40 Recharge’ in the Indian market. The ex-showroom price of Volvo XC40 Recharge has been kept at Rs 55.9 lakh. It is worth noting here that the Volvo XC40 Recharge is completely assembled in India and is the first locally assembled luxury electric car in India. Speaking on its launch, Jyoti Malhotra, Managing Director, Volvo Cars India said on Tuesday, “The XC40 Recharge is assembled at its Bangalore factory (Volvo’s). This reflects our commitment to India and its consumers.”
Swedish car company Volvo plans to sell the XC40 recharge through online only. Its booking will start from July 27. Customers will be able to book it online on the Volvo Cars India website by paying Rs 50,000. It is worth noting that Volvo had entered the Indian market in 2007 and till now the company has launched many cars here but the XC40 recharge is a very important product for the company from India point of view as it is the company’s first electric car to be assembled in India. .
The new Volvo XC40 Recharge is built on the same Compact Modular Architecture (CMA) platform as the regular XC40. It comes with two electric motors that generate 402 Bhp of combined power and 660 Nm of combined peak torque. This electric SUV can accelerate from 0-100 kmph in 4.9 seconds while its top speed is 180 kmph.
The XC40 recharge packs a 78kWh lithium-ion battery. Volvo claims that it can deliver a range of 418 km on a single charge (WLTP cycle). Moreover, this Swedish luxury electric SUV can be charged 0-80 percent in just 40 minutes with the help of a 150kW DC fast charger, while a standard 11kW AC charger will take around eight hours to charge it.
