Virat Kohli becomes first Indian sportsperson to reach 100 million followers on Instagram

New Delhi: Virat Kohli became the first Indian celebrity and also the first Asian player to reach 100 million followers on the social networking platform Instagram. 

He is also fourth with the most followers on Instagram. Cristiano Ronaldo (the Portuguese footballer) tops the chart with 266 million followers, followed by Lionel Messi (Italy stalwart and Barcelona captain) with 187million, and Neymar with 147 million followers are the top three sportsmen.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced the new milestone for Kohli on Twitter, and wrote: “Virat Kohli – the first cricket star to hit 100 million followers on Instagram.”

On the other hand, Bollywood actress Priyanka has over 60 million followers on Instagram, Deepika has 53.3 million followers, Narendra Modi, the Honourable Indian Prime Minister, has over 51.2 million users on the platform. 

Meanwhile, Virat also retained the top spot in India’s most-valuable celeb list according to the Celebrity Brand Valuation Study 2020 by Duff & Phelps. Interestingly, Kohli travelled the path from 50 million followers to 100 million just in one year.
