Bhopal: BJP MP Pragya Singh Thakur has once again targeted the Congress over Nathuram Godse. This time she has again given a controversial statement saying that the Congress has always abused patriots.
Congress leader Digvijay Singh had described Nathuram Godse as India’s first terrorist on social media platform Twitter on Wednesday and his statement drew a reaction from Pragya Thakur.
During the Lok Sabha elections in 2019, Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur had called Nathuram Godse, the killer of Mahatma Gandhi, a ‘patriot’.
After the statement of Pragya Thakur, the Congress strongly condemned it. Veteran Congress leader Digvijay Singh said in a statement, “To make Godse a great man is treason. I strongly condemn the words used against the father of the nation (Mahatma Gandhi). I condemn this statement (Pragya Thakur) Am. Nathuram Godse was a murderer, it is not patriotic to glorify him, it is treason.
Earlier this month the Hindu Mahasabha opened a Gyan Shala (Study Center) dedicated to “Nathuram Godse in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh to educate the youth about aspects of the Partition of India.
“This study center will inform the younger generation about the aspects of India’s partition and spread knowledge on various national leaders,” Hindu Mahasabha vice-president Jayveer Bhardwaj said.
The Hindu Mahasabha leader said that no matter how big Mahatma Gandhi is, the organization will always stand by Nathuram Godse’s act.
“Godse trained in Gwalior and bought a pistol. He later went to Delhi to carry out his plan. He did not succeed in the first attempt, when Gandhiji met Godse, the latter fulfilled his resolve to retaliate against him. Since then we have said that you divided the country and you have to bear the consequences. No matter how big the leader is, we stand by Godse’s act,” Bhardwaj said.
