New Delhi: January 14 is celebrated as Ex-Servicemen Day in the country. On this occasion, Indian Army Chief General Manoj Mukund Narwane, IAF Chief Air chief Marshal RKS Bhadauria and Indian Navy chief Admiral Karambir Singh paid tributes to the ex-servicemen.

Indian Army Chief Manoj Mukund Narwane said that this entire year would be celebrated as ‘Swarnim Vijay Varsh’ to mark the victory in the 1971 war against Pakistan.

“Last year was very challenging for our country and the armed forces. The Armed Forces met the epidemic efficiently while staying bravely along the northern borders. I am proud that our veterans had the support in accomplishing this,” Indian Army Chief General Manoj Mukund Narwane said.

“Some of the veterans had expressed disappointment that the 1971 war was not given much importance after the completion of 50 years. I want to say that this whole year will be celebrated as  ‘Swarnim Vijay Varsh’ to mark the 1971 war victory. Many programs will be organized across the country. Small memorials will be erected at the National War Memorial in Delhi for the villages that won the gallantry awards of the 1971 war,”  he added.

IAF chief Air Chief Marshal RKS Bhadauria said, “The Indian Air Force (IAF) began as an auxiliary force in 1932 and today we are a deadly, powerful aerospace power.”

Indian Navy chief Admiral Karambir Singh said, “It is a matter of great pride and honor for me to have the opportunity to talk to our veterans on the occasion of Veterans Day of the Armed Forces. I express my heartfelt gratitude to all the veterans for their service to the country.”

“All of us who are in uniform and service today gratefully acknowledge that the multi-dimensional and reliable force we possess is due to the vision, perseverance and destiny of our veterans,” he added.
