New Delhi: Veteran classical singer Pandit Deepak Chatterjee died on Monday following age-related problems.
He had composed over 200 bandishes in several ragas. He was 87 years old. His daughter Vidisha confirmed his death.
Vidisha told that he complained problem with breathing in the morning, so we took him to the hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.
He had attended a concert on Sunday, she added.
Pandit Deepak Chatterjee belonged to Gwalior-rampur gharana. he has performed classical music in various countries. he made an important contribution to popularising hindustani classical music among Indian and abroad audiences.
He also served as a professor at Delhi university for 15 years.
