Uttar Pradesh: PM Modi meets BJP CMs, district, divisional presidents

Varanasi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday met the chief ministers of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) as well district and divisional presidents of the party in Varanasi to chalk out the strategy for the upcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections 2022.

Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Prahlad Joshi had earlier confirmed that PM Modi would meet district presidents and divisional presidents (party K) on December 14 in Kashi, Uttar Pradesh.

BJP national president JP Nadda had recently called on BJP district and divisional presidents to join grassroots party workers and people.

Elections will be held in Uttar Pradesh early next year and the BJP is leaving no stone unturned to stay in power. Some exit polls suggest the main battle will be between the ruling BJP and the Akhilesh Yadav-led Samajwadi Party (SP).

PM Modi will also attend a conference of BJP chief ministers of Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Goa, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Manipur, Tripura. Deputy Chief Ministers of Bihar and Nagaland will also be present.

The SP has formed a pre-election alliance with the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) and Om Prakash Rajbhar’s Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP).
