Lucknow: In a politically significant move ahead of the assembly polls of 2022, the BJP top brass has convened a meeting of party MPs from Uttar Pradesh (UP) in Delhi on Wednesday and Thursday.
However, the agenda of this meeting of BJP MPs with the party’s top leadership has not been put out in the public domain. According to sources, the BJP leadership may ask for feedback from the MPs regarding prevailing political situation in Uttar Pradesh (UP) and performance of the party’s sitting MLAs.
This meeting is thought to be part of the BJP’s preparations for next year’s assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh (UP).
BJP national president JP Nadda is scheduled to preside over the meeting while Uttar pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath, UP BJP chief Swatantra Dev Singh and the party’s state general secretary (organisation) Sunil Bansal. According to BJP sources, Union Home Minister Amit Shah may also attend the meeting.
According to sources, the BJP leadership has summoned the Uttar Pradesh (UP) MPs in batches according to their respective regions. The BJP has categorised Uttar Pradesh into six different regions – Gorakhpur, Kashi, Awadh, Kanpur-Bundelkhand, Braj, and Paschim. Three of these regions are scheduled to be covered on Wednesday while the BJP MPs hailing from the other three regions will meet the party’s top leadership on Thursday.
