Gonda (Uttar Pradesh): At least 8 people have been reportedly killed in a massive explosion which took place in Gonda district of Uttar Pradesh (UP) late last night.
A house belonging to one Nurul Hasan, a resident of Tikri Thatherpurwa village of Wazirganj police station area, collapsed due to the late night explosion. At least 15 people who were reportedly buried under the rubble were rescued overnight. However, eight people have died.
The injured have been referred to the District Hospital after the Community Health Center for treatment. The family members have alleged that the incident took place due to a cylinder explosion.
IG Dr Rakesh Singh, Superintendent of Police Santosh Kumar Mishra along with high officials of the district reached the spot and launched an investigation. The reason for the explosion is not yet clear. It is said that the explosion took place at the house of Nurul Hasan, resident of Thatherpurva village in Tikri, at around 10:00 pm on Tuesday night. The explosion was so powerful that the entire roof collapsed.
Villagers started evacuating people trapped under the rubble. 15 people were pulled from under the rubble. However, Nisar Ahmed (35), Shamshad (28), Shayrunisha (35), Rubina Bano (32), Mohammad Shoaib (02), Meraj (11) and Noori Saba (12) were killed.
Shahbaz’s body has also been recovered. The debris being removed with JCB machines. Those injured include Noorul Hasan, Irshad Ahmed, Nizam, Rehan Ahmed, Alisha, Mohammad Zaid and Gulnaz Bano.
