TMC targets BJP in West Bengal over viral meme “Pawri ho rahi hai”

LAST UPDATED: Feb. 22, 2021, 12:29 p.m.

Vibhuti Kakkar, Kolkata: The Trinamool Congress (TMC) has shared a picture targeting the BJP over upcoming state assembly elections.

The TMC tweet, which is a parody of a viral video from Pakistan, read, “Yeh @BJP4Bengal hai. Yeh unki jansabha hai. Aur yahan inki pawri ho rahi hai!”

The TMC posted a picture of a public event in West Bengal where a BJP leader is addressing the audience but only one man is sitting and listening to what he is saying, the rest of the seats are unoccupied. This all happened after a meme got viral on social media “Pawri ho rahi hai.”

The ‘meme’ is based on an original video made by a Pakistani influencer including content creator Dananeer Mobeen celebrating holidays in hilly region and making a 15 seconds video saying, “Ye humari car hai aur ye hum hai aur ye humari pawri ho rahi hai (this is our car, this is us and this is our party)”.

The TMC targeted BJP over the upcoming state assembly elections. “Yeh @BJP4Bengal hai. Yeh unki jansabha hai. Aur yahan inki pawri ho rahi hai!” the TMC tweeted.

Moreover, the police officials in Uttar Pradesh started their own version of “Pawri ho rahi hai” meme. In their own version, they said “Late night #Pawrihorahihai aur aap disturb ho rahe to call karein 112 (If there’s late night party happening and you are getting disturbed then call 112),” the Uttar Pradesh Police tweeted.

The stress between BJP and TMC have started increasing before the upcoming state assembly elections. On Saturday the ruling Trinamool Congress Party in Bengal said ‘Bengal Nijer Meyekei Chay’ (Bengal wants its own Daughter). On the contrary, BJP raised a slogan “Bangla Didir Theke Mukti Chay” (Bengal wants relief from Didi) and posted an animation video regarding it.
