Kolkata: Former BJP leader Yashwant Sinha, who has joined the Trinamool Congress (TMC) ahead just before the West Bengal Election 2021, has been given the responsibility of national vice-president. Apart from this, he has also been included in the TMC’s National Working Committee.
On Saturday, the former Union Minister had joined the TMC and praised party chief Mamata Banerjee as a real fighter. Yashwant Sinha was the finance and foreign minister in Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s government.
On Saturday, Yashwant Sinha, the TMC office reach Kolkata, joined the party. On the occasion of joining Mamta Banerjee’s party, Yashwant Sinha said that after the attack on Didi, he had decided that he would now go to TMC. However, the Election Commission has rejected the attack on Mamata Banerjee.
While joining TMC, Yashwant Sinha said, “Who is left with the BJP now. All alliance partners have left the BJP.”
Yashwant Sinha also praised Mamata Banerjee.
“She is a real fighter. Even during the Kandahar plane hijackings case, she had offered to present herself to the terrorists. The meeting was going on regarding the hijacking and during this time Mamata Banerjee said that I will present myself as a hostage to the terrorists. The only condition will be that terrorists leave the hostage passengers,” Yashwant Sinha said.
Yashwant Sinha had left the BJP in 2018. Yashwant Sinha was angry with BJP leadership since 2014. He often questioned the decisions of the party leadership and the central government. After this, he left the BJP in 2018. Since then, there were speculations about him joining some other party, but this did not happen. Now he has joined TMC just before the West Bengal Election 2021.
Yashwant Sinha was considered among the closest leaders of Atal Bihari Vajpayee. A bureaucrat-turned-politician, Yashwant Sinha had been in the BJP for three decades.
