Srinagar. J&K Police officials on wednesday claimed to have killed three militants including a wanted TRF Commander Mehran in an encounter at Rambagh area of Srinagar.
The security forces have recovered arms and ammunition from the encounter site.
Officails said the firefight between militants and security forces took place after a joint team of the police and the security forces cordoned off the area and launched an ambush on the basis of specific information about presence of militants.
As the security forces zeroed in on the spot where militants were present, they came under fire and retaliated, triggering the encounter in which three militants including The resistance front commander Mehran of down town Srinagar were killed.
The other TRF militant killed in the encounter were identified as Basit and the identification of third is being ascertained, said the police officials.

IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar confirmed news24 about the killing of TRF Commander Mehran, IGP said Mehran was involved in killing of two teachers & other civilians in the city. He said Identification of other two militants is being ascertained.
Meanwhile clashes and stone pelting also reported from the Rambagh and few areas of down town in Srinagar, forces were deployed in strength ro maintain the law and order situation.
