New Delhi: All adults above the age of 18, who will be eligible receive the vaccine shot from May 1, as announced by the Government of India on Monday, can register for their shot from April 28 on the CoWIN platform and Aarogya Setu.

India started its nationwide inoculation programme against novel coronavirus on January 16 after the approval of two vaccines – Covaxin and Covishield. As of now, the country is vaccinating people above the age of 45. In the first phase, healthcare and frontline workers received the vaccine doses, while in the second the country administered vaccines to people above 60 and those above 45 with comorbidities.
Apart from Serum Institute of India’s Covishield and Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin, Russia’s Sputnik has also been approved in the country and is to arrive very soon. Reports have also surfaced that Pfizer has also agreed to sell vaccine doses to India at no profit prices.
According to the government data, a total of 22,11,334 people were vaccinated on Wednesday, taking the total inoculation count to 13,23,30,644.
