Dharamsala (Himashal Pradesh): Anurag Thakur has been promoted in the expansion of the Union Cabinet. Union Minister of State for Finance and Corporate Affairs Anurag Thakur was administered the oath of office by President Ram Nath Kovind as a cabinet minister.
Anurag Thakur’s performance as Minister of State for Finance and Corporate was better, due to which Prime Minister Narendra Modi promoted him as a cabinet minister.
Born on October 24, 1974, Anurag Thakur became the fourth time MP from Hamirpur parliamentary constituency of Himachal Pradesh and won the Lok Sabha elections for the first time in May 2008. Before joining politics, he has proved himself by trying his hand in cricket. He took charge of the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) in 2000.
The International Cricket Stadium in Dharamsala is the gift of Anurag. He also had many achievements to his name as the President and Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India. In 2005, he took over as the President of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha and covered the country with the tricolor yatra.
Won by-election from Hamirpur parliamentary constituency for the first time in May 2008. He was elected for the second time in 2009 to the 15th Lok Sabha. Became MP again in 2014 and reached Lok Sabha for the fourth time in 2019.
In the PM Modi government, the responsibility was entrusted in the form of central state finance and corporate work. Anurag also served as a regular commissioned officer in the Territorial Army. Now in the rank of Captain.
His father Prem Kumar Dhumal has been the Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh twice. The former Modi government has also served as the Chief Whip in the Lok Sabha.
