New Delhi: Actors Matt Smith and Tobias Menzies, who played the role of Prince Philip in the Netflix series The Crown, paid their tribute to the Duke of Edinburgh after his demise on Friday.
Matt Smith featured in The Crown as the young Prince Philip and garnered massive popularity with his portrayal of the character. “I’d like to offer my condolences to Her Majesty the Queen and the Royal Family. Prince Philip was the man. And he knew it. 99 and out, but what an innings. And what style. Thank you for your service old chap — it won’t be the same without you,” he told US weekly.
Tobias Menzies, who essayed the role of Prince in seasons 3 and 4 of the Netflix series, took to Twitter to express his grief over the passing away of the Royal. “If I know anything about the Duke of Edinburgh I’m fairly sure he wouldn’t want an actor who portrayed him on TV giving their opinion on his life, so I’ll leave it to Shakespeare. “O good old man! how well in thee appears
The constant service of the antique world…” he tweeted.
Prince Philip, the consort of UK’s Queen Elizabeth II, passed away on Friday, the Buckingham Palace announced. He was 99.
