Thalaivi trailer out: Kangana Ranaut surprises fans with her rollicking avatar in the film



New Delhi: The trailer of one of the most-anticipated movies of this year, Thalaivi, starring National Film Award-winning actress Kangana Ranaut is finally out. The trailer was released on the special occasion of the actress’s birthday. Based on the life of actress-turned-politician J Jayalalithaa, Thalaivi will hit the theaters on April 23. The trilingual film will release in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. Thalaivi is directed by AL Vijay, and it also features Arvind Swami, Prakash Raj, Madhoo and Bhagyashree in key roles. The film showcase the life of the late former chief minister of Tamil Nadu J Jayalalithaa, from her rise in the world of films as an actress to becoming a powerful politician.

The trailer shows her relationship with MG Ramachandran (MGR) played by Arvind Swami. Thalaivi with the guidance and love of MGR was adored by the people and continued till the very end. After MGR’s death, she showed how she can be an independent leader and win people’s hearts with her work and dedication. The trailer shows different phases of Kangana as Thalaivi and she will give you goosebumps with her powerful performance. 

Kangana looks surreal as the late actor and former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu as she left no stone unturned in getting into the skin of her character. For the role, Kangana is said to have gained 20 kilos and undergone body transformation. On multiple occasions, the actress mentioned how gaining weight took a toll on her health. “I played the first super humangirl on Indian screen, thanks to my body a rare combination of dainty yet strong looking, in my 30’s I had to gain 20 kgs for Thalaivi n do Bharatnatyam,it left my back severely damaged but no bigger gratification than to play a role to perfection,” she wrote on Twitter. Earlier the film was slated to hit the screens on June 26, 2020, but got delayed due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
