Tandav row: Supreme Court squashes plea by director Ali Abbas Zafar, Saif Ali Khan and others

New Delhi: The Supreme Court has some real bad news for Ali Abbas Zafar, director of the controversial web series ‘Tandav’ 

On Wednesday, the Supreme Court declined to grant interim protection from arrest to Ali Abbas Zafar. 

FIRs have been lodged in Mumbai, Lucknow Greater Nodia and Bengaluru against Ali Abbas Zafar, Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan and several others due to controversial scenes allegedly hurting Hindu sentiments being depicted in the web series ‘Tandav’.

The Supreme Court has also issued notices Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and other states on their pleas against the controversial web series.

On Wednesday, a Supreme Court bench comprising justices Ashok Bhushan, R Subhash Reddy and M R Shah heard as many as three separate petitions filed by Ali Abbas Zafar, Amazon Prime India head Aparna Purohit, producer Himanshu Mehra, ‘Tandav’ writer Gaurav Solanki and actor Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub.

Apart from seeking quashing of the FIRs, the pleas by those associated with ‘Tandav’ also sought clubbing of the various FIRs.
