T20 WC: Rohit back on the top, open with Rahul for India

Rohit Sharma has been given his opening position again as he walks to the crease with partner KL Rahul in the game against Afghanistan.

Abu Dhabi: Rohit Sharma has been given his opening position again as he walks to the crease with partner KL Rahul in the game against Afghanistan.

The Indian team will look forward to saving their wickets, breaking the continuum of early wickets losses as seen in the past two games. Men in Blue will eye on winning the game to keep their already diminutive hopes alive for the semi-finals.

India has lost the toss ahead of their face-off with Afghanistan and is asked to bat first in the third consecutive game on the ongoing T20 World Cup Tournament.

Afghanistan skipper Mohammad Nabi chose to bowl, giving the dew as the main reason, which makes bowling difficult in the second half.

He said, “Will bowl first. Last game, there was a lot of dew in the second half. Mujeeb isn’t playing. We always prepare for both, but today we’ll bowl first because of dew. We’ll play normal cricket and go and enjoy”.

Somewhat disappointed India skipper Virat Kohli has said that we still have a chance (in semis) and thus, we will try to play our best game.

He said, “Firstly, there’s no denying the fact that the situation is a tricky one. Having said that there’s still a chance. We, as a team will look at the chance and try to play positive cricket. We know we haven’t played up to potential whatever the reasons might be – need to brush that aside”.
