New Delhi: India Wrestler Sushil Kumar, accused in a murder case of fellow wrestler, had demanded a special diet and supplements in jail. Rejecting the jailed wrestler’s petition, the court has ruled out that the actor’s demands appear to be “wishes and desires” and not necessities.
“By the way of present application, the accused/applicant is not claiming any deficiency in a person’s daily diet, their quantities and the common source of nutrients as mentioned in Delhi Prisons Rules, 2018. Meaning thereby, the accused/applicant has been provided with a balanced and healthy diet,” the court said in its order.
The court ruled out that the actor is not suffering from any disease, and thus, he should be treated alike as the law should be equally administered.
“The law should be equal and should be equally administered, that like should be treated alike,” the court observed.
The wrestler has been kept in a separate cell in Delhi’s Mandoli jail. He is not allowed to meet anyone for security reasons.
Sushil Kumar had demanded Omega 3 capsules, pre-workout supplements and multivitamin pills in his petition, citing he was preparing for competition. He also wanted exercise bands for workout.
Wrestler Sushil Kumar, a two-time Olympic medalist, was arrested on May 22 in connection with a brawl at Chhatrasal Stadium which had led to the death of a wrestler. He was on run for three weeks following the brawl.
