Aasif Suhaf/Jammu & Kashmir: After a long spell of silence and a significant decrease in stone pelting incidents, heavy stone pelting took place at Government Degree College in South Kashmir’s Pulwama on Wednesday.
Meanwhile whole college was in a state of chaos when a group of policemen on examination duty were targeted by stone-pelting students from all sides. According to eyewitnesses, the Stone-Pelters hurled stones at the police from several directions at the same time. Tear gas shells and batons were used to disperse them. Protesting students was demanding the release of the college students arrested earlier.
The incident took place just after a day Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Kavinder Gupta claimed that the incidents of shutdown and stone-pelting have stopped in Jammu and Kashmir after Article 370 repealed.
While talking to media Gupta further added, “Earlier the union territory didn’t have a single man who hailed ‘Mother India’ and that now is the time to teach ‘Bharatiyata’ in the region. The Indian flag is our pride and it’s wrong if it isn’t hoisted in Kashmir. The concept of the state flag has ended now.“
