New Delhi: Former Indian team captain Sourav Ganguly has turned 49 today. Sourav Ganguly, popularly known as ‘Prince of Kolkata’, is also called by the fans as ‘Dada’. Sourav Ganguly, who brought the Indian team back on track after the sting of the match-fixing scandal that surfaced in the year 2000, is currently in the service of cricket in the role of BCCI President.

1. Team India reached the 2003 Cricket World Cup final
In year 2003 Cricket World Cup was organized in South Africa. After the humiliating defeat in the ODI series against New Zealand, the Indian team performed brilliantly in the World Cup. India were beaten by the Netherlands in the opening match, after which they suffered an embarrassing defeat against Australia during the group match. After this, India came back and defeated many teams and knocked in the final. But in the final, India faced undefeated Australia. In this title match, Team India could not overcome the Kangaroos and had to face a defeat of 125 runs in the final.
2. Joint winners in the Champions Trophy in the year 2002
In the year 2002, the Champions Trophy was organized in Sri Lanka. The Indian team reached the final after defeating Zimbabwe, England, and South Africa. In the title match, he faced hosts, Sri Lanka. The first final of the Champions Trophy was washed out due to rain. After this, there was a match between the two teams on the reserve day. 3. Winning Test and ODI Series in Pakistan
