Sooryavanshi box office Day 4: Akshay Kumar-starrer to enter 100-crore club

Sooryavanshi was originally slated to release on March 24 last year but was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which led to the shutting down of cinema halls.

New Delhi: Rohit Shetty’s Sooryavanshi had a huge weekend. The film managed to earn Rs 77.08 crore during the weeken, but the collection saw a slight dip as the weekdays began. On Monday, the Akshay Kumar-Katrina Kaif starrer grossed Rs 14.51 crore taking its total earnings up to Rs 91.59 crore.

The film is expected to enter the 100-crore club on Tuesday. Taran Adarsh shared the film’s earnings on Twitter and wrote, “#Sooryavanshi collects in double digits on a Day 4… Inches closer to ₹ 100 cr mark… Will be the *first* ₹ 100 cr #Hindi film, since #Tanhaji [Jan 2020]… Fri 26.29 cr, Sat 23.85 cr, Sun 26.94 cr, Mon 14.51 cr. Total: ₹ 91.59 cr. #India biz.”

The cop drama is a continuation of the cop action ‘Singham’ universe, which began with the Ajay Devgn starrer ‘Singam’ and ‘Singham Returns’, then expanded with ‘Simmba’, starring Ranveer Singh and Devgn, and now is going forward with Akshay Kumar’s character. Apart from Akshay, ‘Sooryavanshi’ also features Katrina Kaif in the lead role.

In ‘Sooryavanshi’ Akshay portrays the role of a DSP who fights crime. Katrina plays the role of Akshay’s love interest in the film. The movie also features special cameos by Ajay Devgn (Singham) and Ranveer Singh (Simmba).
