New Delhi: Goa Police has registered a case of murder against two individuals in the death of BJP leader Sonali Phogat.
“Murder case registered against two people in the death of BJP leader Sonali Phogat,” said Goa Police.
Sonali, a BJP leader from Hisar, Haryana, was brought dead on Tuesday morning to the St Anthony Hospital in Anjuna, North Goa. Although initial reports said that she died of a cardiac arrest, her family believes that there was foul play involved.
In a complaint submitted to the Goa Police, Sonali Phogat’s brother Rinku Dhaka claims that his sister was raped and killed by her personal assistant Sudhir Sangwan and his companion Sukhwinder.
Sonali talked to family members before death
According to Rinku’s complaint, a few hours prior to her death on August 23 she talked to her family members. She had spoken to her mother, sister, and brother-in-law. He asserted that she had grumbled about her personal assistant during the conversation.
PA added drugs to her meal
Rinku alleged that Phogat’s PA raped her after adding drugs to her meals.
Speaking to ANI, Sonali’s nephew Moninder Phogat said, “Hume shak nhi hume yakin hai ki aisa hua hai unke sath. (We are sure that our sister was raped and murdered).”
15-year-old daughter seeking justice for her mother
The BJP leader’s 15-year-old daughter Yashodhara was fighting for justice to her mother.
Sonali, a Haryana native, ran against Kuldeep Bishnoi in the most recent Assembly election from Haryana’s Adampur constituency. In 2020, she also made an appearance in the reality programme “Bigg Boss.”
