New Delhi: Actress Sonali Bendre on Sunday recalled how her battle with cancer has made her strong. On the occasion of Cancer Survirors Day 2021, Sonali shared a few lessons she learnt during her battle with the deadly disease. Sonali took to her official Instagram handle and shared a before-and-after picture of herself, charting her cancer recovery. Sonali was diagnosed with metastatic cancer in 2018 and was treated for it in New York. She battled the illness and emerged victorious eventually. The actress put up a picture of herself from days in hospital and merged it with her current, happy self.
She captioned the image as: “How time flies. today when I look back, I see strength, I see weakness but most importantly I see the will to not let the C word define how my life will be after it…You create the life you choose. The journey is what you make of it… so remember to take #OneDayAtATime and to #SwitchOnTheSunshine.” People showered her with love in the comments section. Neelam Kothari Soni, Zoya Akhtar, Bhavana Pandey, Diana Penty, Manish Malhotra, Maheep Kapoor, Navya Naveli Nanda, Abhishek Bachchan and Sikandar Kher dropped heart emojis. “Your my warrior princess Sonzyyy,” wrote Sussanne Khan. Tahira Kashyap commented, “You inspire me.”
Tahira Kashyap Khurrana in 2018 shared that she was detected with Stage 0 breast cancer and underwent a mastectomy procedure. She shared a sketch of herself with a bare back, shaved head and a scar and wrote a powerful message. The 38-year-old shared an Instagram Story and said cancer scars symbolise strength. “Never be ashamed of a scar. It simply means you were stronger than whatever tried to hurt you. Everyone has scars, whether you see them or not. Wear yours with pride,” her caption read.
In terms of work, Sonali Bendre was last seen as a judge on the TV show India’s Best Dramebaaz. She is a bona-fide bookworm and runs a virtual book club. Sonali Bendre is best known for movies such as Hum Saath Saath Hai, Sarfarosh, Diljale, among others.
