Soldiers are ‘suraksha kawach’ of ‘Maa Bharti’: PM Modi at Nowshera

PM Modi in his address to soldiers in Nowshera said it is because of them people of our country can sleep peacefully and there is happiness during festivals.

Nowshera: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Thursday, lauded the soldiers for serving on Indian borders and pointed out that security personnel were the “suraksha kawach” (armour) of the nation.

Addressing soldiers at Nowshera in Jammu and Kashmir, the Prime Minister further said it is because of the soldiers that people can sleep peacefully. “Our soldiers are the ‘suraksha kawach’ of ‘Maa Bharti’. It is because of you all that people of our country can sleep peacefully and there is happiness during festivals.” 

“I have spent each Diwali with soldiers guarding our borders. Today, I have brought along with me the blessings of crores of Indians for our soldiers here,” he added.

He also said the Armed forces personnel that he is visiting them not as a Prime Minister but as their family members to celebrate Diwali. 

The Prime Minister said, “There were many attempts to disturb peace here but each time a befitting reply has been given.” 

Talking about the surgical strike, the PM said, “It fills every Indian with pride on the role this brigade played during the surgical strike.” 

He also said that the role of women in the area of security of the nation has been touching newer heights. The women now are being given permanent commission in the army. The doors of premier military institutions have also been opened for women.

After the address, Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with Indian Army Jawans chorused ‘Bharat Mata Ki Ji’ slogan at Nowshera. 

PM Modi also distributed sweets with Armed forces personnel in Nowshera.

The Prime Minister continued his annual tradition of celebrating Diwali with soldiers. He left from Delhi for Nowshera today with minimum security arrangements.

Notably, PM Modi has been visiting soldiers on Diwali, ever since he was the Chief Minister of Gujarat. (With inputs from ANI)
