Sanjay Dutt receives first dose of Covid-19 vaccine in Mumbai



New Delhi: Sanjay Dutt, on Tuesday, became the latest Indian celebrity to get the first shot of the COVID-19 vaccine. The 61-year-old actor took to Twitter where he posted a picture of himself getting the jab at the city’s BKC vaccine center.  He can be seen smiling at the camera in the picture while receiving the vaccine. “Received my first shot of the COVID-19 vaccine today at the BKC vaccine center. I want to congratulate Dr Dhere and his entire team for doing such a wonderful job! I have so much love and respect for them and their hard work. Jai Hind!” Sanjay tweeted.

On the Workfront, Sanjay will be next seen in the big-budget film KGF: Chapter 2. Directed by Prashanth Neel, the film also features Yash, Raveena Tandon, Srinidhi Shetty, Prakash Raj and Malavika Avinash in pivotal roles. While Yash plays the role of Rocky, Sanjay Dutt will be seen as Adheera. The film will hit the theatres globally on July 16. Apart from KGF: Chapter 2, Sanjay Dutt also has Akshay Kumar’s Prithviraj, Ajay Devgn’s Bhuj: The Pride of India and Shamshera with Ranbir Kapoor lined up.

The Munna Bhai MBBS actor has joined the list of Bollywood actors who have got themselves vaccinated against Covid-19. Earlier actors like Saif Ali Khan, Paresh Rawal, Anupam Kher, Hema Malini, Dharmendra, Sharmila Tagore, Neena Gupta, Gajraj Rao, Satish Shah, Johny Lever and Rakesh Roshan had also received Covid-19 vaccine

Last week, veteran star Dharmendra had tweeted a video of himself receiving the vaccine dose. In the video, the actor said that everybody should mask up and maintain social distancing. As a nurse gives him the coronavirus dose, the actor is heard saying in the clip, “I am even taking this (vaccine). It should be given to boys and girls as well.”

The second phase of the COVID-19 vaccination drive, which began on  March 1 in India, witnessed a good turnout. This phase is for people aged 60 and above, and those in the 45-59 age bracket with comorbidities. Including the Prime Minister of India, Mr Narendra Modi. Amit Shah, S Jaishankar, CM Nitish Kumar, NCP Chief Sharad Pawar, and Naveen Patnaik have also taken their first shot of the COVID-19 vaccine.
