Russian thermobaric ‘vacuum bombs’ launcher seen in Ukraine: Report

News

Moscow (Russia): Amid Russia’s ongoing military operations in Ukraine, a Russian thermobaric multiple rocket launcher was spotted south of Belgorod, Russia, near the Ukrainian border on early Saturday afternoon (local time).

The TOS-1 or TOS-1A Multiple Rocket Launcher is capable of launching rockets with thermobaric warheads, CNN reported.

Howeverm there is no evidence whether thermobaric weapons have been used in the conflict in Ukraine.

These types of weapons do not use conventional ammunition. Instead, they are filled with high-temperature, high-pressure explosive, CNN stated.

Often called “vacuum bombs,” they suck in the oxygen from the surrounding air to generate a powerful explosion and a large pressure wave that can have enormous destructive effects.

Russian military continues to advance in the capital city of Ukraine, according to media reports. Explosions in parts of Kyiv were heard on Friday as Russian forces approached the city, media reports said on Saturday.

Videos from eyewitnesses show explosions taking place in the Ukrainian capital city as some media reports said Ukraine and Russia are discussing a place and time for talks.
