RIP Sardool Sikander: Punjab’s famous singer Sardool Sikander has passed away at the age of 60. He breathed his last at Fortis Hospital in Mohali, Punjab. Sardool Sikander was ill for a long time. He was found to have a corona infection after his kidney transplant, he was undergoing treatment since then. There is a wave of grief among his fans with his death and the world mourns this loss.
Last month, he was admitted to the hospital after suffering from kidney problems. During this time, the kidney was transplanted. The operation was successful, but in the meantime, he also became corona infected. After this, he was undergoing treatment for Corona but couldn’t handle it and left us all.
Sardool Sikander has sung many Punjabi hit songs. His first album came in the 1980s. After this, he took out many albums and did not look back. His album ‘Husna de Malko’, which came in the year 1991, made a worldwide debut. This album sold 5.1 million copies. Apart from songs, he also earned a name for acting in many films. His performance in the Punjabi film ‘Jagga Daku’ was highly praised.
Chief Minister Amarinder Singh informed on Twitter that the Sikander had tested positive for the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) and was being treated for it. “Extremely saddened to learn of the demise of legendary Punjabi singer Sardool Sikander. He was recently diagnosed with #Covid19 and was undergoing treatment for the same. The world of Punjabi music is poorer today. My heartfelt condolences to his family and fans,” he tweeted.
