RIP Lata Mangeshkar: Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn mourn the demise of Nightingale

New Delhi: Legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar passed away at 92. The demise of the Nightingale of India has left everyone in a state of grief. Heartbroken Bollywood celebrities are taking to Twitter to pour in tributes for the singing icon. 

Akshay Kumar wrote, “Meri Awaaz Hi Pehchaan Hain, Gar Yaad Rahe…and how can one forget such a voice! Deeply saddened by the passing away of Lata Mangeshkar ji, my sincere condolences and prayers. Om Shanti.”

“An icon forever. I will always savour the legacy of her songs. How fortunate were we to have grown up listening to Lataji’s songs. Om Shanti. My deepest condolences to the Mangeshkar family,” Ajay Devgn said in a tweet.

Actor Urmila Matondkar reacted to the news by posting a broken heart emoji on her Twitter timeline.  “Mera saaya saath hoga, aap saath hain.. aap paas hain. Aap harr dil mein amar hain,” wrote actor-politician in another tweet. 

Vishal Dadlani tweeted, “Hoping against hope that this is not true. If it is….I dont even have the words to express the loss and grief.  #LataMangeshkar ji ki awaaz India ki pehchaan hai, aur hamesha rahegi.”

Madhur Bhandarkar in a tweet wrote, “Deeply saddened by demise of @mangeshkarlata didi she has been a mother figure to me over the years, use to call her every fortnight & have conversations. It’s a personal loss for me. Her presence will be immensely missed in my life. Love you Didi.Red heartRed heart#OmShanti Folded hands#VoiceofIndia.”

Bhumi Pednekar wrote, “A very sad day and a huge loss for all of us, her fans. Your contribution will live on forever ma’am. My condolences to the family and all her fans across the world. Om Shanti #LataMangeshkar.”

Actor Nimrat Kaur, too, mourned the demise of Lata Mangeshkar.

“India lost her voice today. There will never be another,” she tweeted.

Lata Mangeshkar passed away on Sunday at the age of 92. She had been admitted to Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital on January 8, after she was diagnosed with Covid and pneumonia.
