Islamabad: Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday expressed his dismay over the passing away of legendary Bollywood actor Dilip Kumar. Taking to Twitter, the Pakistan Prime Minister said that he is saddened to learn about he passing of Dilip Kumar. Notably, Dilip Kumar was born in the Peshawar city of Khyber Paktunwala before the partition.
“I can never forget his generosity in giving his time to help raise funds for SKMTH when the project launched. This is the most difficult time – to raise first 10% of the funds and his appearance in Pak and London helped raise huge amounts,” Khan wrote, adding that Kumar was the greatest and most versatile actor of his time.
Dilip Kumar passed away at Wednesday morning at Hinduja Hospital wherein he was admitted due to prolonged illness. The actor who would had turned 99 in December this year is survived by his wife and veteran actress Saira Banu.
Dilip Kumar was born as Yusuf Khan in the Qissa Khawani Bazaar area of Peshawar, Pakistan. He changed his name to Dillip Kumar before making his debut in the Hindi Film Industry.
Earlier in the day. Pakistan’s Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa provincial government had poured rich tributes for the legendary actor. Late Dilip had great regard and respect for the people of his birth place Peshawar. He will always be remembered for his services, love and affection he had for the people of Peshawar,” the statement said.
