New Delhi: The Delhi Police on Saturday transferred the Rinku Sharma murder case to the Crime Branch and deployed security personnel to avoid any untoward incident in the area.
Additional Public Relations Officer (Delhi Police) Anil Mittal while talking to the media said that the matter has now been transferred to the Crime Branch for further investigation.
The update comes a day after the fifth accused was arrested for allegedly killing 25-year-old Rinku Sharma in Mangolpuri area of Delhi.
According to the police report, a scuffle ensued between the victim and the accused men while he was attending a birthday party on Wednesday. There was a debate between them about food in Rohini which led to a violent fight.
Later, four men went to Rinku Sharma’s house, where the victim was already standing with his elder brother carrying sticks. A senior police officer said on Thursday that a scuffle ensued between the two sides once again and the accused escaped from the scene by stabbing Sharma.
Meanwhile, Rinku Sharma’s brother Mannu (19) has alleged that Rinku Sharma was killed because he was actively participating in the donation drive for the Ram temple in Ayodhya.
However, the Delhi Police has denied any communal angle to the murder and said that the fight at the birthday party took place over a commercial rivalry.
Police said so far Tazuddin, Zahid, Mehtab, Danish and Islam have been arrested in connection with the incident.
