New Delhi: The civil aviation minister, Hardeep Singh Puri got replaced from ministry with Jyotiraditya Scindia. Scindia is a Rajya Sabha MP from Madhya Pradesh, serving as MP for the fifth time. He was the Union Minister of State for Power, communication and commerce in earlier Governments.
Because of disputes with congress, he left the party on 10th of March, 2020 to join the Bhartiya Janata Party. The party then released a statement claiming that he had been expelled for “anti-party activities”. He later joined the Bhartiya Janata Party on the 11th of March, 2020. Other MLAs from the party also resigned with him showing unity and loyalty towards him.
On 19th of June 2020, Scindia was elected as BJP Rajya Sabha MP from Madhya Pradesh. And was elected as the Minister of Civil Aviation in the Second Modi ministry.
Scindia is chairman of the regional Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association in India and the president of the Board of Governors of Scindia School, Gwalior, found by his great-grandfather, Madho Rao Scindia, in 1897.
Scindia is also a hereditary patron of Daly College, Indore, which was established in 1882 with a motive to educate the children of the royalty, aristocracy and nobility of Central Indian princely states.
Moreover, he also serves as the chairman of Madhav Institute of Technology and Science which is one of the most prominent Engineering College of Gwalior Chambal Region, founded in 1957.
