New Delhi: Legendary actor Randhir Kapoor was shifted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) days after testing positive for novel coronavirus. Randhir is being treated at the Kokilaben Hospital in Mumbai. Randhir is reportedly now recuperating well. Talking to leading daily, he said “I am recovering well and should be home soon,”. He added that he did not need any oxygen during his stay at the hospital “I was never breathless. I just had fever.”
Earlier Randhir said that his entire staff of five members had tested positive for the virus and was hospitalised with him. On whether he felt any symptoms that prompted him to take the test, Randhir said, “I felt some shivering and decided that it is better to be safe, hence I underwent the test. But overall I am in no discomfort. I have no major problem. I am not breathless and did not need an ICU or oxygen support either. I had a bit of fever but that is gone now.” He added that he tested positive despite getting both shots of the vaccine.
He also revealed that his daughters Karisma Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan had also got themselves tested for the virus and that their reports were negative. He mentioned his wife too was fine. On Thursday, a statement from Dr Santosh Shetty, CEO and Executive Director, Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital read, “Veteran actor Shri Randhir Kapoor is admitted to Kokilaben Ambani Hospital Mumbai for Covid-19 treatment last night. His condition remains stable.”
Talking about the professional front of veteran actor, Randhir started his acting career in 1971 with Kal Aaj Aur Kal. He was seen in 70s films like Jawani Deewani, Rampur Ka Laxman, Chacha Bhatija and more. He later directed Hina, one of his father Raj Kapoor’s unfinished projects. Randhir was last seen on the big screen in the 2012 film Housefull 2.
