Pilot had during his ‘rebellion’ in July 2020 said that several electorally significant communities like Jats and Meenas did not have adequate representation in the ministry and Gehlot was in charge of most responsibilities and unwilling to part with any portfolios. After the allocation, Gehlot retained all, barring excise, which has been given to his staunch supporter Parsadilal Meena.
Gehlot now has 10 portfolios including finance, taxation, home and justice, department of personnel, administration, cabinet secretariat, NRI, IT and communication, state investigation bureau, information and public relations. Parsadilal Meena has been the biggest gainer of the reshuffle as he got the medical and health portfolio, earlier held by Raghu Sharma.
The reshuffle has seen five from ‘Pilot camp’ inducted in the Cabinet. They include Hemaram Chaudhary, Brijendra Ola, Murarilal Meena, Vishvendra Singh and Ramesh Meena. Chaudhary has got the forest and environment. Ola has been entrusted with transport and road safety. Murarilal Meena is MoS (ind) for agriculture marketing and estate. Vishvendra Singh has retained tourism and Ramesh Meena has got Pilot‘s previous charge of rural development and panchayati raj. Senior minister BD Kalla is the new education minister.
