New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has created a history, winning 92 of 117 Punjab Assembly seats. It is also for the first time AAP has won in state polls apart from Delhi. The ruling Congress could only manage to win 18 seats.
Notably, in the Punjab Assembly election 2017, AAP had won mere 20 seats, while Congress had formed the government in the state, winning 77 seats.
It is a big win for Aam Aadmi Party in Punjab and Bhagwant Mann will now take oath as the Chief Minister of the state.
Deepak won on the Jalalabad constituency with 90,308 votes who defeated Sukhbir Singh Badal who could bag 59,934 votes.
Who is Jagdeep Kamboj?
A 37 year old Aam Aadmi Party’s candidate joined the party on February 19, in 2020, when Bhagwat Mann was the President of AAP Punjab.
The election affidavit informed that there has been 1 criminal cases registered against Kamboj.
Kamboj was earlier a part of National Secretary of IYC but resigned later. Last year, he also resigned from Indian National Congress.
After that, Jagdeep fought by-election on the Jalalabad constituency seat as independent candidate. However, he lost the election to Raminder Awla who fought from Congress.
