Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann meets PM Modi in Delhi, here’s what he demanded

New Delhi: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Thursday met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his office at Parliament House. During the meeting, Mann sought special financial package worth Rs one lakh crore from the Centre for the revival of state’s economy.

In his maiden meeting with the Prime Minister after assuming charge as the Chief Minister of Punjab, Mann ensured the PM of holistic development in the state.

Mann also apprised PM Modi about the poor fiscal health of Punjab and said the previous governments have left a whopping burden of Rs 3 lakh crore.

According to an official statement by the Punjab government, to put the derailed economy back on the track, Mann has sought immediate financial package of Rs 50,000 crore each for two years.

Mann hopes that with the financial assistance, Punjab’s economy would become self-sustainable and economically viable during the third year. He also assured that his government on its own would also strive hard to fill the empty coffers by completely eradicating the mafia from the state.

Mann also sought support from the Centre to foil attempts of inimical forces across the border. The Punjab Chief Minister also assured the Prime Minister that his state would provide necessary assistance.

Mann later said that Prime Minister promised all possible support and complete cooperation to make Punjab a vibrant state.

Bhagwant Mann also his government would leave no stone unturned to make Punjab the number one state in the country.
