Amritsar (Punjab): An attempt to infiltrate the Attari border of Punjab has been thwarted.

BSF jawans have killed two intruders. Weapons have also been recovered from the dead intruders. At present, the entire area has been surrounded by security forces and a search operation is going on.

The Border Security Force (BSF) said that armed intruders were neutralized at the Attari border at around 2.30 am. Sources said that more information will be known only after the search operation by the BSF is over. But dense fog is impeding the the BSF’s search operations in the area.

The two intruders were trying to infiltrate from Pakistan under the cover of dense fog near Attari border of Amritsar. The BSF jawans spotted the infiltration bid, after which they warned them and told them to stop. But the intruders started firing when warned. The BSF soldiers also fired back, killing both intruders.

Pakistan is constantly trying to push infiltrators across the border into India. On November 23, an intruder was entering the Indian border in Samba sector, and was killed by BSF personnel. Also in November, terrorists tried to infiltrate into Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir, but were thwarted by the security forces.

Earlier in August, the Border Security Force (BSF) had killed five armed Pakistani intruders near Khalda in Tarn Taran. A large quantity of weapons were recovered from them, including an AK-47 rifle, four pistols, magazines, cartridges, more than 9 kg of heroin and two mobile phones.
