Mumbai/ New Delhi:
The CBI today took a special three-member team of doctors from Delhi’s AIIMS to actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s Mumbai home for forensic examination. The team will submit its report after the visit, officials said.
Meetu Singh, Sushant Singh Rajput’s sister, was also present along with the team. The actor’s aides- Neeraj and Keshav – also accompanied them.
Last month, the CBI sought assistance from the AIIMS in the death case. “Our priority will be to examine the case in murder angle and overall all the possible manner of death” Dr Sudhir Gupta, Head of Forensic Medicines, AIIMS, had told NDTV at the time.
Multiple investigative agencies – the CBI, Enforcement Directorate, the Narcotics Control Bureau – are probing the death case, which had triggered a debate on mental health issues.
Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead at his Bandra home on June 14. Mumbai Police at that time had said he had died by suicide.
His family in Bihar in July accused his friend – Rhea Chakraborty – of mentally harassing him and driving him to suicide.
The CBI took over the investigation into the death last month after the Supreme Court asked the Mumbai Police to hand over all evidence it has collected to the agency. “A fair, competent and impartial probe” is the need of the hour to stop speculation,” the top court had said.
The NCB, which is probing the drugs angle in the death case, on Friday arrested Rhea Chakraborty’s brother Showik and Sushant Singh Rajput’s house manager Samuel Miranda after conducting early morning raids at their homes. Both of them will be produced in the court today.
The NCB has arrested seven people so far in this case including Showik Chakraborty and Samuel Miranda.
