New Delhi: Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is currently practicing self-isolation after her husband Robert Vadra tested positive for coronavirus infection. She has also cancelled her upcoming visit to poll-bound states, Assam and Tamil Nadu, in the same light.
The information was shared by the Congress leader herself via Twitter. In her tweet, Priyanka Gandhi also revealed that she has tested negative for the virus, but has been advised by doctors to isolate herself as she has been identified as one of the close contacts.
“My report has come out negative but on the advice of doctors, I will be in isolation for the next few days. I apologise to all of for this inconvenience,” she said in her social media post.
“Unfortunately, I have to cancel the programme that were scheduled for me for the Assam campaign today and for Tamil Nadu tomorrow and Kerala, day after tomorrow,” Priyanka Gandhi said. “I wish all the best to all candidates that I was supposed to campaign for. I hope all of you do well and the Congress emerges victorious,” Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said in a video on Twitter.
Earlier in the day, Robert Vadra had shared a Facebook post wherein he had informed that he has contracted coronavirus.
“Unfortunately, I came into contact with someone covid positive and have tested positive for covid although i am asymptomatic so far. As per the covid guidelines, Priyanka and I are self-isolating although she has tested negative,” he said.
“Fortunately, the kids have not been with us these days and everyone else at home has tested negative too. Hopefully we will all be back to normal life soon,” he added.
Priyanka Gandhi was scheduled to campaign for Congress in poll-bound states of Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Assam from next week.
