Speaking in Joynagar and Uluberia, the PM asked if Banerjee was planning to contest from any seat other than Nandigram. The CM is facing her former aide and BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari in Nandigram. There are rumours that she may contest from another seat. He also asked her to stop calling people of the country “outsiders” as they are all under the same Constitution and are children of Bharat Mata. “Didi, is there any truth in the rumour that you are going to file nomination from another constituency? First you went there (Nandigram) and people gave you an answer. If you go somewhere else, people of Bengal are ready,” siad the PM. Trinamool sources, however, said the question of Mamata Banerjee fighting from any other seat does not arise.
“Mamata Didi has issues with the Jai Shri Ram slogan. She has issues with Durga idol immersion. Didi has now problems with vermilion too. Didi’s people now call chotiwalas as rakshasas,” he said. Recently, Banerjee had talked about her “gotra” (clan) at a public meeting in Nandigram. This had prompted Union minister Giriraj Singh, who sports a choti, to ask if she also considered Rohingyas and other infiltrators part of her clan and accused her of offering them a “red carpet”. The PM also hit back at Trinamool Congress for calling his Bangladesh trip unethical and saying it violated the model code of conduct for elections.
Meanwhile in Assam, Modi he said people have yet again shown a Red Card to Congress and its grand alliance. “People of Assam trust NDA for development, peace, security of the state,” said Modi while addressing an election rally in Kokrajhar. Modi expressed confidence that the NDA will form the government in Assam and said people have stamped the victory in the previous phase of polling.
Targeting the Congress-led grand alliance, Modi said this is an election between the ‘Maha Jhooth’ of Mahajot and ‘Maha Vikas’ of Double Engine.
He said, “From providing land pattas (certificate) to over 3.25 lakh families, increasing wages of workers to improving life of women working in tea gardens, the NDA government has tried to bring all-round development in Assam.”
Modi alleged that Congress never worked for the upliftment of tea garden workers while the NDA government has increased and doubled their wages.
