New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a function today on the occasion of Buddha Purnima. On the occasion of Buddha Purnima, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the Vesak Global Ceremony virtually through video conferencing.
During this, PM Modi talked about the coronavirus pandemic in his address. He called coronavirus the greatest threat to humanity. He also praised India’s scientists.
“I once again salute my frontline healthcare workers, doctors, nurses who risk their lives to serve others with selflessness. I mourn for those who have lost their loved ones,” Prime Minister Narendra Modi said during his address to the Virtual Vesak Global Ceremony on the occasion of Buddha Purnima.
“Our planet will not be the same after COVID-19. Now we have a better understanding of the pandemic. We have the vaccine. India is proud of our scientists,” PM Modi added.
“The weather patterns are changing, glaciers are melting, rivers and forests are in danger. We cannot allow our planet to be injured. Lord Buddha emphasized on the way of living and respecting the mother of nature. India is one of the few big economies that is on track to meet Paris’s goals.”
Every year this event is organized by the Ministry of Culture of the Government of India in association with the International Buddhist Confederation (IBC). All prominent people from Buddhist associations around the world are participating in this program. According to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), the ceremony will be addressed by more than 50 prominent Buddhist religious leaders of the world.
