PCOD: Causes, Symptoms and healthy ways to get rid of it



New Delhi: In the recent times, Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOD) has emerged as a major health concern among women of all ages. Also known as Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS),it is a common disorder caused by an imbalance of hormones, which creates irregularity in egg formation in ovaries. While the exact cause of PCOD is still unknown, doctors believe that high levels of male hormones prevent the ovaries from producing female ones and forming eggs normally.

The most common PCOD symptoms are:

1.Irregular Periods, occurring every 2 to 3 months 

2.Heavy bleeding

3.Unusual body and facial hair growth 

4.Acne: person may be lean or have clear skin but still suffer from PCOD. This is because it is an endocrine disorder affecting several systems in the body.

5.Wait gain

6.Pigmentation or darkening of the skin around the neck region

7.Headache

8.Infertility

9. Heavy Bleeding

Try these easy remedies for PCOD

1. Maintain a healthy diet

 A healthy diet is every thing for a human body. When consumed timely, it can do wonders towards preventing PCOS  and can even help in reducing its symptoms.

 You must abstain from eating sweets and fried food completely. Avoid high calorie food. When you have a craving for sweets, eat an apple. It is the healthier than the sugar. 

 

 Eat frequent small meals rather than large and irregular ones. This will also help you avoid snacking in between.

 

 Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Ensure that you eat a nourishing breakfast on time.

 Plan your meal for the day and stick to your plan. This will help you stay away from junk food.

 

 Add fibrous foods in your diet like brown rice and whole wheat bread.

 You can eat bitter gourd as a vegetable or drink its juice. This will help control blood sugar levels. Amla or Indian gooseberry also has a similar effect.

Fenugreek leaves and tulsi or basil will help maintain insulin levels. PCOS patients have high levels of insulin, as it remains unused in the body, increasing blood sugar levels.

2.Exercise regularly

 You can walk, run or go to the gym, but do it regularly. Don’t overwork but increase the exercises gradually, so it doesn’t become a stressful activity.

3.Maintain a stable ovulation cycle:

PCOS affects the ovulation cycle as it interferes with menstruation and fertility. Besides irregular periods, women suffering from PCOD also have difficult time while conceiving a child. In order to have a stable ovulation cycle to control PCOD symptoms, you should avoiding unnatural ingestions. 

4.Keep your body and mind stress free:

  

 Relax your mind by taking a slow and deep breath.

 Soak in a warm bath.

 

 Listen to soothing music.

The goal of mindful meditation is to focus your attention on things that are happening right now in the present moment. For example,  listen to your body. Is your breathing fast, slow, deep, or shallow and just relax, hear noise of your breath.
