New Delhi: England star fast bowler Jofra Archer will undergo surgery on Friday. The England and Wales Cricket Board gave this information on Thursday. Archer has been troubled for a long time because of an elbow injury. He is already out of the two-Test series against New Zealand next month. The young bowler Archer was ruled out of the series due to an arm and elbow injury in the T20 series against India. After this, he did not play in IPL 2021 either.
The England and Wales Cricket Board Thursday tweeted that Jofra Archer’s right elbow injury has been reviewed by a medical consultant in respect of his right elbow soreness. He will now proceed to surgery tomorrow on Friday. Archer, playing his first competitive match for Sussex, returned after an injury, took two wickets for 29 runs in the first innings. Archer bowled only 5 overs in the second innings. He complained of pain in the right elbow.
The 26-year-old Archer has been suffering from an elbow injury for a long time. He dropped out of the tour of South Africa in early 2020. Subsequently, he was ruled out of the fourth Test against India earlier this year. He has played 13 Tests, 17 ODIs, and 12 T20 matches so far for England. How long Archer’s injury will heal is difficult to predict right now. England have to play home series against India, Sri Lanka, and Pakistan. This is to be followed by the T20 World Cup and the Ashes series.
